Reality Spa

What a high media month this has been for us! November starting out with the good news about a feature in Caribbean Travel and Life magazine. We had the joy of hosting Rebecca for a manicure and pedicure back in April and she has decided to feature Drift Away in the Jan/Feb issue. After a particularly inspired photo shoot with Steve Simonsen, we are excited to see this article hit the racks next month.
To add even more flavor to the month, Asha and Juli had a chance to give some awesome pedicures to the ladies of Real Housewives of New York. It was certainly an interesting experience to be part of a reality TV filming. We feel grateful to have been selected and are curious to see how we will show on television! Look for your favorite pedicurists on Bravo in the spring.

Walking into the spa today...what is that delicious aroma that greets me? Its Chocolate Truffles! jane iredale has four delicious new Chocoholick Lip Truffles and we have them. WOW! These are really a special treat. I'm already planning all the ways I can share them with friends. Hostess gifts, stocking stuffers and much more. We'll be featuring the Strawberries and Cream, Orange Truffle, Caramel Truffle, and Double Chocolate lip truffles in our Dark Chocolate and Blueberry Soy Slimming Body Treatment for the Black Friday weekend event.
I'm really excited about this event. I know how much people are looking to get value for their dollar right now and this event was planned with that in mind. Not only is the 90min body treatment offered at the phenomenally low price of $99, but with this service guests also can check off their Holiday Shopping lists with 10% of our special Holiday retail packages. There are new products from Eminence, jane iredale and SpaRitual in this markdown.
One I expect to be a sell-out is the complete Biodynamic Collection from Eminence. This new collection goes beyond organic in its quest for pure products. A controlled biodynamic farm must meet all organic standards, then goes even further, requiring disciplined soil enrichment, labor-intensive fieldwork, constant observation, and ongoing, intuitive awareness. Pruning, planting, and the applications of special preparations are all done with the lunar cycles, creating a collection perfect for the most sensitive of skins.

New Offerings

OOh! The good things in store for you! Drift Away is excited to expand our offering of services. Where to begin? Starting in November we are adding two new faces to our talented staff. Elizabeth Gowan will be offering yoga classes Monday mornings at 9am. Beth recently pursued further training in Thai Massage and joins Marjie, Juli, JenniLyn and Chris in our team of Thai bodyworkers.

Joining us from Northeast Harbor Maine is Kristen Tucker, skincare extraordinaire and pilates instructor. Kristin is bringing private and group pilates, beginning with Thursday at 8:30am.
If that weren't exciting enough? Microdermabrasion is now available at Drift Away. This treatment reveals fresh, younger looking skin, decreases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, creates a tighter, lifted appearance of facial contours, and leaves the skin texture smoother while refining larger pores.

Labor free days

Another beautiful weekend on Saint John. The not-so-Tropical storm Erica dropped all her rain Saturday night leaving a cool, breezy day for the islands annual "Love City Triathlon".

Having closed the spa for the month of September, we were all set to spend our time having a little fun together. Team Drift Away did the relay race of this annual triathlon. Chaliese did the swim, Juli on the bike and Marjie pulled it all together for us in the run portion. 5th place, baby!
We had so much fun, a hearty thanks to all the amazing volunteers that make the race possible every year.

We'll be working just as hard the rest of the month making a few changes at the spa that are sure to make things even sweeter for next season.

See you at our re-opening October 1rst!

Locals Appreciation Month

You heard right! August is Locals Appreciation Month. While August is traditionally a less busy month on St. John, there are quite a few secret pleasures to being here during the slow season.
Things I particularly enjoy about August: being able to go out to dinner without reservations, meeting new people and having the time to chat and get to know them, reduced rates for vacation rentals, more parking at the beach and parking in town.... well, it's better at least.
So we at Drift Away figure anyone who loves this island enough to brave the heat in August deserves a special break. We have in store a variety of treats, there is something to delight everyone.

One of the most exciting offers we have this month comes from a frequent request. Discounts on Massage Services! Buy a pack of 9 services this month and get the 10th free. You have a whole year to use them.
Free Brush-Me-Bronze with purchase from our "Fill Your Beach Bag" sampling of products. The selection of sunscreens, after-sun care, spritzers, and more have been selected with the intention to Protect & Restore your skin. The Brush-Me-Bronze is a great way to get a nice summer color without the exposure to the harmful rays of the sun.
Finally, now that folks are experiencing a chance to breath after season, we have a Date Night themed package. Put a little Sparkle into your relationship with a couples massage at the spa and dinner out at Zozo's. This value added package includes a complimentary extra 15 minutes of head and neck massage PLUS a complimentary bottle of champagne at Zozo's.
You can't ask for a more enjoyable evening than that!

Beautiful Brides

First, a warm congratulations to one of our own. Asha and Michel tied the knot on a perfect afternoon at Trunk Bay this week.
We've seen so many lovely brides this week. Several honeymooners took advantage of the Signature treatment in our couples room. Friday was a remarkable day- we were booked to the max with several different parties coming and going. Thanks to our wonderful staff, the day flowed perfectly without any feeling crowded. One bridal party was out enjoying a salmon lunch under billowing white curtains while another group was laughing and enjoying themselves in the locker rooms.
I am very grateful to have such a wonderful staff. We decided to be closed for the Fourth of July this year but given that we ended up turning so much business away, I guess we'll stay open next year!

A Glowing Success

Father's Day weekend was a blast! How could I not enjoy myself watching all those wonderful Dad's walking around in spa robes?

Will pulled off three nights at the bbq and 25lbs of chicken wings to create his island-famous specialty. The St. John Brewers Mango ale really complimented the spicy taste of the bbq. Thanks to all who helped pull this event together. Now we're on to our next promotion- Get Your Glow On
We're doing two days of makeovers and dazzling makeup ideas for Carnival 2009. Iredale has some new summer colors reflecting pale nudes and shimmery aquas- perfect for our environment!

Drift Away will be offering 15% off of ALL the Iredale products plus deeper discounts on selected items. I personally cannot wait to wear the new colors out!

It's raining Men!

Well, not yet anyway. The Men will all be headed to Drift Away for our phenomenal Father's Day Promotion and the rain... well rainy season still has another few months.
We're partnering with St. John Brewers (those guys at the Tap Room) to create an unforgettable weekend. Saturday and Sunday, June 20&21 we have our 'Hot Rocks and Cold Brews' promotion. For only $120 we're offering an hour of Hot Stone Deep Tissue Massage and a half hour Gentlemen's Facial. Honestly, that's an amazing, price. You can't pass this one up. And as if that wasn't enticing enough we're changing up our typical presence. Ice cold beers, buffalo wings and free product giveaways will have any man (or beer-loving woman!) kickin' back.
